# Inkwell Sync & Secure Backup

Draft on your Mac, and read your latest pages on your iPhone wherever you are — it's free, and off until you turn it on, one script at a time. If your Mac is ever lost or stolen, your synced scripts come right back.

## Seamless: set it up once, it follows you

- **Write on Mac, read on iPhone.** The full editor lives on your Mac. Turn sync on for a script and it's ready to read and review in Inkwell Reader on your iPhone — on the couch, on set, on the train.
- **Set it up once.** The first time, a single Touch ID ties your work to you. After that, the Macs and iPhones you sign in pick it up on their own — no codes to type, nothing to repeat.
- **Off until you say so.** Sync is off until you turn it on, one script at a time. What you don't sync never leaves your Mac.
- **Your files stay put.** Syncing never moves, renames, or deletes the file on your Mac. It's the same local app you already write in, with sync added on top.

## Lose the laptop, keep the script

- **The nightmare, solved.** Spilled coffee, stolen bag, dead drive — a synced script doesn't go down with the machine. Sign in on a new Mac and it's back.
- **A spare key, only yours.** Turning sync on gives you a one-time recovery code — a spare key that's yours alone. You won't need it day to day, and losing it never touches the file on your Mac. But keep it somewhere safe: if you ever lose every device you've signed in, that code is the only way back into your synced work — not even we can open it for you. That's the point.
- **Covers what you sync.** Backup covers the scripts you sync, not every file on your Mac. Turn it on for the work you'd hate to lose.

## Secure: your work, and only yours

Your script is scrambled on your Mac before it's ever uploaded, with a key that's made on your own devices and never sent to us. What we store is an encrypted copy we have no way to read — enough to bring your work back on a new machine, and useless to anyone else, us included. Delete the cloud copy whenever you like: your Mac keeps its file, and we start erasing ours right away.
