## How credits work

You pay for Quill, never the editor. Writing, formatting, import and export, and unlimited scripts are always free and always offline. Credits only come into it when you ask Quill for help, and a credit is spent per suggestion, not per keystroke.

1. **Start with 100.** Every new account gets 100 welcome credits to try Quill, then 15 free credits each month after that. Plenty to see how chat to diff to accept actually feels.
2. **Pro adds 500 a month.** Upgrade to Pro for 500 credits each month and access to the advanced models, the ones that give higher-quality suggestions when a scene is fighting back.
3. **Top up when you need to.** Out mid-project? Add-on credit packs are $4.99 for 150 credits, pay-as-you-go, no subscription required. Useful when one script needs the heavier models and the next one doesn't.

## The honest answers

The short version: the editor is free, Quill is optional, and you own everything you write.

**Can I use Inkwell for free forever?** Yes. The free plan includes the full screenplay editor, import and export, unlimited scripts, and a monthly allotment of AI suggestions. You can write complete screenplays without ever paying. Upgrade to Pro for more AI usage, or purchase credit packs for pay-as-you-go flexibility, no subscription required.

**What about copyright and IP?** You own everything you write in Inkwell, period. We don't claim any rights to your material. Using Quill doesn't transfer ownership or create shared authorship: it's legally equivalent to using spell-check or a thesaurus.

**Will my writing train the model?** No. We don't store your scripts or use them to train AI models. When you use Quill, only the necessary text snippet is sent to the AI API for processing, and we use data opt-out protections. Your creative work stays yours.

**Does Quill write for me?** No. Quill suggests, it doesn't author. It can brainstorm ideas, offer dialogue alternatives, or help punch up a line, but every suggestion requires your explicit approval. You're always the writer. Quill is the assistant.

**Do I need internet access?** Not for writing. Inkwell works completely offline. You only need internet when you want to use Quill AI. All your script editing, formatting, import and export, and file management works without Wi-Fi.
