## How credits work

You pay for Quill, never the editor.

1. **Free to start.** A free week of Quill Pro. 500 credits, no card.
2. **Credits pay for answers.** You spend credits only when Quill answers — a quick question costs a few, a deep pass that reads your whole script runs more. In real use, 500 credits is dozens of Quill sessions a month. Writing, formatting, and exporting are always free.
3. **Then packs or Pro.** $4.99 for 150 credits, or Pro for 500 a month. Top up anytime.

## The honest answers

The short version: the editor is free, Quill is optional, and you own everything you write.

**Can I use Inkwell for free forever?** Yes. The editor is free forever: the full screenplay editor, import and export, unlimited scripts, everything. To try Quill, every new account can start a free week of Quill Pro: 500 credits, no card, nothing to cancel. After that, buy a $4.99 credit pack when you want one, subscribe to Pro, or write without Quill entirely. You never need to pay to write.

**What happens when my credits run out?** Nothing dramatic. The editor keeps working exactly as before; Quill just waits until you add credits. Buy a 150-credit pack for $4.99 with no subscription, or go Pro for 500 credits a month. Your scripts, formatting, and exports are never held hostage.

**What about copyright and IP?** You own everything you write in Inkwell, period. We don't claim any rights to your material. Using Quill doesn't transfer ownership or create shared authorship. We can't speak for WGA arbitration or a studio's AI policy — no software can — but Quill never writes a page you didn't ask for and approve, and if you never use it, your script never touches an AI.

**Will my writing train the model?** No. We never use your scripts to train AI models. When you use Quill, only the necessary text snippet is sent to the AI provider for processing, and it's never used to train or fine-tune any model. If you turn on sync, your scripts are end-to-end encrypted before they leave your Mac — we store only the encrypted bytes and never hold your key, so we can't read them. Your creative work stays yours.

**Does Quill write for me?** No. Quill suggests, it doesn't author. It can brainstorm ideas, offer dialogue alternatives, or help punch up a line, but every suggestion requires your explicit approval. You're always the writer. Quill is the assistant.

**Do I need internet access?** Not for writing. Inkwell works completely offline. You only need internet when you want to use Quill AI. All your script editing, formatting, import and export, and file management works without Wi-Fi.
